I actually had a conversation with my old English teacher once about how the least privileged group in the United States is poor, Muslim, lesbian, Middle Eastern, disabled Male to Female transgendered individuals. I think there were two other criterion that I’m forgetting but yeah. That conversation happened. Anyway, seriously, unless you are a member of that group, you have privilege, and even if you are a member of that group you have something that other people don’t. We all have privilege. I’m white, cis, heterosexual, academically gifted, and physically (mostly) at least passably healthy. But I’m also homeless and a victim of abuse. I suffer from depression and anxiety, I’m awkward and I’m not physically attractive. We all have stuff in both directions. And I think it is necessary to acknowledge that in ourselves and others. Yes, you are bound to meet people more privileged than you in some area, but remember than you are more privileged than them in a different area.
